Conjay Team Members Reviews
Callum Meadows, Conjays Lead Chemist and an intrinsic part of the Operations Team recently trialled the Garmin Instinct 3 Tactical – AMOLED. Hear is what he had to say on it……
I’ve been using the Garmin Instinct 3 Tactical AMOLED for over a month now and honestly — I didn’t expect to like it this much. I originally thoiught I’d use it for hiking, camping, and the occasional “get lost on purpose” trip, but it’s ended up making me a lot more aware of my day-to-day health too.
First Impressions
Right out of the box, the watch feels solid. It’s got that tough, tactical vibe — like it’s built to survive a fall off a cliff (not that I plan on testing that). The AMOLED display is a big deal for me. It’s super bright and crisp, way nicer than the old-school Instinct screen. Even in full sun, I’ve had no problem seeing my stats.
Sleep Tracking Changed My Routine
I didn’t think I’d care about sleep tracking, but this thing completely surprised me. Every morning, it gives me a breakdown of how long I slept, how much was deep sleep, and how “rested” I am. Seeing those numbers made me realize how badly I was short-changing myself on sleep.
Now, if I go to bed too late, I feel guilty checking the stats the next morning — in a good way. It’s like having a little accountability buddy on my wrist. I’ve started making small changes, like turning off my phone earlier or winding down at a set time, and I genuinely feel better for it.
GPS Tracking & Safety Features
One of my favourite parts is being able to upload my planned walks or hikes to the watch’s GPS tracker. It’s satisfying seeing the route right on the screen while I’m out exploring.
But the real peace of mind comes from the live tracking feature — my friends and family can see my location in real time when I’m on a trip. That means if something ever goes wrong or I don’t check in, they can find me. I can’t overstate how reassuring that feels, both for me and the people back home. It’s a small thing, but it makes adventures feel a lot safer.
Day-to-Day Use
Even though it’s packed with tactical features, I use it just as much in my everyday life. The battery life is solid (easily over a week for me, even with GPS tracking here and there), and I like that it doesn’t have a touchscreen — the physical buttons are great when my hands are wet or I’m wearing gloves.
